Hot Yoga Summer
July 2024
My full-time job (as a clinical psychologist) is at a college - it's a 10-month position, so I am off in June and July. How do I spend that time off, you ask? Well, in part, doing quite a bit of yoga-related activities! Here's a glimpse into my 2024:
Yoga Training - I completed a self-paced Mindful Trauma-Informed Yoga training course in June, and I am now certified in this area.
Yoga Teaching - In addition to my regular weekly class at Yoga 170, I've taught a number of special classes this summer, including Yoga for Healthy Aging workshops (stay tuned for more of these!) and a Fourth of July yin yoga class.
Yoga Speaking - I was contacted by an enterprising UCLA student, Ankita, who started the Mindfulness Podcast when she was still in high school. She asked me to be a guest and interviewed me for Episode 7, which first aired in July.
Yoga Recording - When I have time off, I try to film more videos for my YouTube channel, Mindful Yoga, usually about 2/week. This summer, I started several new playlists, including Yoga for Mental Health, Yoga with Therapy Balls, and Yoga for Pain Relief.
Yoga Playing - My friend Sarah and I have been co-teaching Mind-Body-Brew outdoor yoga classes on the 4th Saturday of every month. If you are local to the Rochester NY, head to my Mind-Body-Brew event page for information and tickets.
Yoga Practicing - I practice at home, usually with YouTube videos (I've done a lot of yin yoga this summer), plus I take classes at the Yoga 170 studio where I work. I also have taken several fun outdoor yoga classes with my friend Lynne of Yoga Revolution, including Yoga at Castaways (overlooking Lake Ontario) and SUP Yoga (pictured above).
